So, you are a prince, and an evil overlord of a distant land far, far away has stolen your precious princess, keeping her for a while in a safe house in a neutral country where you have only limited means. The safe house looks like a "longhouse" actually, 17 bedrooms in a row. The princess sleeps in one of them every night, others are empty -- and evil overlord’s sidekicks move the princess to another bedroom every night... but that's a bedroom next to the previous one, actually, because sidekicks are lazy and princess' belongings (stolen with her, and kept with her by overlord's orders) are rather heavy (and you don't need to take her belongings, no, all what you need is to get your precious princess back!). To steal the princess back (she'll be more than happy to reunite with you, by the way! To heck with the heavy belongings if she's back with her precious prince!) you have one moment every night, the midnight moment (neutral country's guard is changing at that moment, or something -- you got it). You climb the safe house wall and knock one bedroom's window at that moment... Take it or lose it, if you are lucky -- your princess opens the window, you get her! Otherwise, you can try the next night... And the next night... Except that the evil overlord will get his papers straight within one month, and the princess will be finally transferred to the land far, far away... So, will you make it?
(side note: I was considering a more up-to-date phrasing about a guy who stole his country's secrets and ran abroad, and you -- being a female special agent -- assigned to steal him (and secrets, that are not that heavy at all) back... but decided to go with a more conservative (and, so, a bit sexist, sorry!) fairy tale formula... hope it does not hurt anyone's feelings this way!)
